Early Tuesday morning, Jerry Sandusky’s son, Jon Sandusky was arrested for suspicion of DUI in Fargo, North Dakota. Sandusky was seen making an illegal turn when he was stopped by police. Sandusky failed roadside sobriety tests and was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
Jon Sandusky is currently the director of player personnel for the Cleveland Browns. Prior to joining Cleveland, he worked in the personnel department for the Philadelphia Eagles. His father is Jerry Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator at Penn State, who is currently serving 30-60 years in prison for multiple convictions for sexual abuse.
According to authorities, Jon Sandusky was booked and later released. It is unclear whether Sandusky was released on bond or on a summons. In Colorado, if you are arrested for a DUI, you may be subsequently released without having to spend time in jail. Officers may release you on summons, meaning the officer can issue you a ticket with a return date to court. It is more common for people arrested on a first time DUI to be released on summons as opposed to being required to post a bond. Regardless of whether a person arrested for DUI is ultimately released on summons or required to post a bond, officers generally will not release a person unless and until he/she is sober. For this reason, people are frequently sent to detox and their BAC level is monitored to determine when they may be safely released.
